Quilt Construction Questions

Constructing the Quilt

Is this the same quilt as last year?

Yes. There is only one quilt! There are only slight changes from year to year. You can begin this year, or catch up on previous years, or make the quilt over multiple years.

Do I have to make all the BONUS blocks?

No. Overall there are slightly more than 365 patterns, so that there is a little flexibility with block selection. If I give a particularly difficult block, there is often a simpler substitute given at the same time.

Is there a block placement diagram?

No. You will decide the final placement of your blocks, although I'll give you some hints.

The quilt diagram and blank quilt illustration are only a rough guide. Neither of them will have your exact blocks represented, as more blocks have been added since the diagrams were drafted, and there are slightly more than 365 blocks (BONUS blocks) to give you the opportunity to swap out one that doesn't work or is particularly tricky.

The only blocks that have a set place are the Central Medallion and the four Corner Flowers.

Do I have to label the blocks, or keep them in order?

No. When it comes to join them, you will mix them up.

What if I find a mistake in a pattern?

Most the mistakes have been ironed out now. There may also be a message in the pattern notes, if there is a known mistake and the PDF is not yet amended.

But there are still a few little errors lurking out there. Please let me know, and I'll get it corrected.
